on the political compass

What is Liberalism? What does it mean to be a Liberal Democrat?

The preamble states: "The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity."

Or put simply Mill's harm principle: the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others.

Take the political compass and comment with your results, it would be interesting to see where the collective mind of the Liberal Democrats stands. The website also has a graph of British political parties, where they stand and how this has changed year after year. It would be interesting to see Nick take this test, anyone close to him wish to pass it on?
