on local elections 2008

Congratulations to the Conservatives for a great set of results for them, winning in Wales… unbelievable, let’s hope they learn the Welsh national anthem this time.

David Cameron has said,
“This is a very big moment for the Conservative Party - but I don't want anyone
to think that we would deserve to win an election on the back of a failing
government.”

I can’t help feeling that this is what has happened. Off the back of the whole 10p issue and a general feeling that Labour needs a kicking, some areas which have never been anything but Labour are now Tory. A day is a long time in politics so imagine what two years can do… expect a reshuffle this weekend and possibly some defections, but in the long run by the next election we could have a 1992 situation, where the government in waiting has to keep on waiting.

I’m going to go out on a branch here and say that Ken will probably win London, on second preference votes, it will be very close. Of course I could be wrong but that’s something I’ll have to live with, ask yourself this, who would a Liberal Democrat, Green, Left List, Christian Choice voter give their second preference to? Chances are it will be Ken.

More at around 8pm
